So many things are. Maybe even most things. It’s unfortunate that it takes a global pandemic and long overdue protests in the streets to refocus the lens and realize that maybe we’ve been looking through the wrong end of that telescope, and those really, really big issues (like, “Why is there no food? Just a bunch of ingredients to make food.” or “One pillow is too low, but two pillows is too high.”), are just not worth gettin’ all riled up about.
This is not meant to be a preachy Monday June 22, 2020, but more a sharing of a personal revelatory reminder to “get on with it”, and focus on the important stuff.
Thom Lemmons is to blame/thank for the horns (and bari sax in particular) this week. He turned me on to this ridiculous group, The Fearless Flyers. You only seem to be able to find them at Vulfpeck (which makes them even more mysterious and cool). Thank you Thom.
So, before “together we stand and sing”, I think Mr. Bowie may have had a handle on this when he suggested we just “Put on your red shoes and dance the blues.”
The thoughts swirl. The head spins. And much of it seems like a big deal, when really it’s just time to finish our tea, slip on our red shoes and get dancing with the important stuff.
As together we stand and sing.
Tea for two? Right this way.
